₹9 Crore Allocated for Disaster-Hit Schools in Mandi

MANDI, Aug 14 — The Himachal Pradesh government will spend ₹9 crore to repair schools damaged in the recent disaster in Mandi district, Education Minister Rohit Thakur said on Wednesday.

Addressing the media in Sundernagar, Thakur said 300 educational institutions in Mandi were affected, with 29 schools suffering heavy damage. “The education department has also suffered significant losses due to this calamity. A total of 523 educational institutions across the state have been damaged, out of which 109 have suffered heavy damage,” he noted.

Out of a total provision of ₹16 crore for the state in the first phase of repairs, ₹9 crore will be allocated specifically to Mandi. “The repair work of all the damaged schools will be completed at the earliest so that they can resume functioning smoothly,” Thakur added.

The minister emphasised that the government is committed to restoring educational infrastructure promptly following the natural calamity that has impacted multiple areas of Himachal Pradesh.
