Bijapur, Jan 26: Eleven security personnel sustained injuries on Sunday when multiple improvised explosive devices (IEDs) detonated during an operation in the dense forests of Bijapur district. The blasts were triggered as a joint task force moved through the Karregutta Hills area, a location situated near the Telangana border under the jurisdiction of the Usoor police station.

The tactical team comprised members from the state police’s District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Bastar Fighters, alongside the 210th battalion of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA). Official reports confirmed that six separate explosions occurred as the units combed the rugged terrain. Among the wounded are ten DRG personnel and one CoBRA sub-inspector.

“The injured men were airlifted and admitted to a hospital in Raipur,” a senior official said. While many of the personnel are being treated for various wounds, specific attention is being given to three individuals who suffered splinter injuries to their eyes and three others with leg injuries.

Medical professionals in Raipur are currently monitoring the recovery of the team. A doctor at the private facility where the men are being treated noted that the surgical team has already completed procedures on three patients, with another jawan undergoing surgery.

“Their condition is stable,” the doctor added.

This latest engagement follows a significant increase in security presence in the region. In November of the previous year, a permanent camp was established at Tadpala village to disrupt what was once a secure hideout for senior Maoist leadership. This follows a major 21-day campaign in the same hills during the spring of last year, which resulted in the elimination of 31 Naxalites and the recovery of 450 IEDs
