119 Held in Punjab Drug Smuggling Raids

Chandigarh, JAN 4: Punjab Police carried out a large-scale anti-drug operation on Saturday, arresting 119 individuals and seizing drugs and cash, officials said. The action took place at 347 locations statewide under the “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign, with more than 120 police teams involved.

A police spokesperson said, “The raids led to the recovery of 2.2 kg heroin, 595 intoxicant tablets and capsules, and Rs 17,620 from those arrested.”

The crackdown included the filing of 103 FIRs. In the past 308 days, Punjab Police have arrested 43,095 drug smugglers, the spokesperson noted.

“Targeted enforcement and intelligence-led raids remain central to our efforts to disrupt drug networks,” the spokesperson said.

Officials said the campaign will continue, with operations planned across the state to curb trafficking and distribution of narcotics.
