15 Devotees Killed as Tempo Traveller Rams Stationary Truck in Rajasthan

Jodhpur, November 2: At least 15 people were killed and two others injured when a tempo traveller carrying devotees rammed into a stationary trailer truck near Matoda village on the Bharat Mala Highway in Rajasthan’s Phalodi early Sunday, police said.

“Fifteen passengers died, while two others sustained serious injuries. The injured were first taken to a hospital in Osian and later referred to Jodhpur,” Jodhpur Police Commissioner Om Prakash said.

The victims, all residents of the Sursagar area in Jodhpur, were returning home after offering prayers at the Kapil Muni Ashram in Bikaner’s Kolayat temple.

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed grief over the accident and directed officials to ensure all possible help to the victims’ families and proper medical care for the injured. Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot also condoled the deaths.
