Hoshiarpur, October 18 – Panic gripped Mahilpur town on Saturday after two unidentified motorcycle-borne men opened fire inside a jewellery shop, police said. No injuries were reported in the incident.
According to officials, the assailants, wearing helmets, entered the shop and fired a single shot that struck the ceiling before speeding away. Two employees present inside escaped unhurt.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Garhshankar) Daljit Singh Khakh said a police team reached the spot soon after the incident. “We are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas and efforts are underway to identify and arrest the accused,” he said.
Police have registered a case and further investigation is in progress.
