Jhajjar, Aug 10: A mild earthquake measuring 3.1 on the Richter scale struck Haryana’s Jhajjar district on Sunday afternoon, causing light tremors but no reported casualties.
The National Centre for Seismology reported the quake occurred at 4:10 pm, with its epicenter located 7 kilometers east-northeast of Jhajjar at a depth of 10 kilometers.
This event follows a series of recent earthquakes in the region. On July 17, a 3.3 magnitude quake was felt near Rohtak district, marking the third seismic incident in the Rohtak-Jhajjar area within 10 days. Earlier, a 3.7 magnitude tremor had also been recorded near Jhajjar. The strongest among these was a 4.4 magnitude quake, which caused tremors across the national capital and neighboring areas.
Despite the repeated activity, authorities have reported no damage or injuries from Sunday’s quake.
