Jalandhar, April 1 — Jalandhar authorities revoked the licences of 50 immigration firms that failed to renew their registrations despite being served show-cause notices, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal said.
The action follows intensified scrutiny of illegal travel agents after deportees returned from the U.S., having been sent abroad through unauthorized routes. In February, the district administration had issued notices to 271 travel agents and firms.
“We are committed to ensuring immigration firms operate within legal boundaries,” Aggarwal said, urging residents to consult only registered firms. He noted that a list of authorized agencies is available on www.jalandhar.nic.in and www.emigrate.gov.in, while additional inquiries can be directed to the Protector General of Emigrants helpline at 95306-41790 or via email at poechd@mea.gov.in.
The administration continuously monitors immigration businesses and takes action against those violating regulations, he said. Some additional licences are under review for irregularities and could face cancellation in the coming days, based on government guidelines.
