Pragyaraj, 23 February: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday stated that more than 50% of the world’s Sanatan Dharma followers have participated in the ongoing Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj, with nearly 60 crore devotees taking a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam so far.

Addressing seers at the Mahakumbh Mela Mahotsav in the presence of Kamkoti Peethadheeswar Jagadguru Shankaracharya Shankar Vijayendra Saraswati Maharaj, Adityanath questioned, “Which other religion or sect witnesses such a massive gathering of devotees expressing their faith in a specific time frame?”

The last major bath of the festival, on Maha Shivratri, is set for February 26. Adityanath described the Mahakumbh as a way for Sanatan Dharma followers to honor India’s rishi tradition, dev traditions, and cultural heritage.

Speaking separately at the Unicorn Companies Conclave in Agra, the chief minister called the Mahakumbh “one of the rarest events of the century,” highlighting its unmatched scale in the spiritual and tourism sectors.

Adityanath, also the Mahant of Gorakshapeeth, urged the youth to become “job creators” and noted Uttar Pradesh’s transformation from a state with limited opportunities to a growing startup hub. The UP government reported over 14,000 startups in the state, with 7,000 led by women.

He further mentioned that Uttar Pradesh is not just an agricultural state but also a center of Sanatan knowledge and traditions.
