69 Government Schools Awarded Over ₹5 Crore for Excellence

Chandigarh, March 6 — The Punjab Education Department has awarded special grants totaling ₹5.175 crore to 69 government schools for their outstanding performance, aiming to enhance academics and infrastructure.

Each district’s three best-performing schools—one senior secondary, one high school, and one middle school—were selected for the grants.

“This initiative encourages schools to maintain high academic standards and improve learning environments,” a senior education official said.

The grants were distributed as follows:

₹10 lakh each for 23 senior secondary schools (₹2.30 crore)

₹7.5 lakh each for 23 high schools (₹1.725 crore)

₹5 lakh each for 23 middle schools (₹1.15 crore)

Officials mentioned that the funds will be used to upgrade infrastructure, procure learning materials, and enhance academic facilities.

Recognizing the role of these schools in strengthening the state’s education system, the official added, “Their exceptional performance sets a benchmark, and we hope this recognition will inspire others to strive for excellence.”
