Greater Noida, Sept 28: Uttar Pradesh’s rich art and history took center stage at the ongoing UP International Trade Show at Greater Noida’s India Expo Mart, where an extensive exhibition by the State Culture Department showcased rare sculptures, digital manuscripts, and contemporary artwork.
The showcase features prominent historical artifacts discovered across the state, led by a seventh-century idol of Goddess Ganga and a 12th-century sculpture of Goddess Saraswati recovered from Gorakhpur. Additional highlights include a tenth-century Garudarudha Lakshmi Narayan idol from Mirzapur, an 11th-century Lord Vishnu figure from Sultanpur, a tenth-century Maheshwar sculpture from Kanpur, and an 11th-century Vishnu idol from Almora. Department officials maintained that these displays offer young visitors and students an immersive look into classical Indian iconography and craftsmanship.
Reflecting the cultural ethos of the Braj region, the entrance to the pavilion was crafted as a replica of Prem Mandir’s main gateway and Brahmand Dwar, emerging as a major photography spot for attendees. Beyond ancient stone works, the State Lalit Kala Akademi presented contemporary live portraiture alongside digital frames displaying rare historical manuscripts.
Harish Chandra Dubey, Technical Assistant with the Culture Department, affirmed that officers are actively engaging with young attendees to explain the historical context of each exhibit, emphasizing the government’s commitment to preserving and promoting the state’s cultural legacy.
