Chandigarh, July 14 — The Punjab government has promoted eight senior IPS officers of the 1994 batch to the rank of Director General of Police (DGP), according to an official order issued by the Department of Home Affairs on Sunday.
The promotions were approved by the Governor of Punjab and take immediate effect. The officers elevated to Level-16 in the pay matrix include two women officers, marking a significant step toward greater representation at the top ranks of Punjab Police.
The list of promoted officers is as follows:
- Dr. Naresh Kumar
- Ram Singh
- Sudhanshu Shekhar Srivastava
- Praveen Kumar Sinha
- B. Chandra Sekhar
- Amardeep Singh Rai
- Neeraja Voruvuru
- Anita Punj
The order was signed by Additional Chief Secretary Alok Shekhar of the Department of Home Affairs and forwarded to key officials, including the Home Secretary to the Government of India, the Chief Minister’s office, the Director General of Police Punjab, and the Public Relations Department for further action.
The promotions were confirmed through order No. HOME-HM-10PROM/2/2023-HOME-1/55-60, dated July 14, 2025.
