Delhi/Chandigarh, May 1 – BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh said on Wednesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to count caste in the next census would support the goal of equitable development across all communities.
Chugh mentioned that the initiative aligns with the ideas of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya and Dr B.R. Ambedkar, particularly their vision of reaching the most marginalized in society.
“This step will help realise the vision of Ekatma philosophy and social justice, ensuring that benefits of governance reach the last person,” he said.
He also noted that the Modi government’s welfare schemes are designed to be inclusive and target those who have been historically left out.
Chugh criticised the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi, accusing them of engaging in divisive politics for electoral gain.
“The Gandhi family’s political narrative has been exposed before the nation,” he said.
He also mentioned that Congress has often attempted to divide society on the basis of class and religion.
Calling the caste census a major step forward, Chugh said it would strengthen efforts to empower every section of the population.
