Chandigarh, July 23: The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has extended the deadline for admissions to classes 8 through 12 for the 2025–26 academic session, offering relief to students and parents across the state. The last date, which was earlier set as July 15, has now been pushed to August 1, 2025. The board has also released a revised schedule for registration and continuation to align with the new deadline.

According to officials, the extension was made keeping in mind administrative delays and to ensure no eligible student is left behind due to procedural issues. The revised timeline will allow school heads and district education officers to complete the necessary processes without pressure.

This move is part of a larger educational push by the Punjab government, which has declared its commitment to driving a holistic academic transformation across the state. In line with this vision, several new categories of schools have been introduced — including Schools of Eminence, Schools of Brilliance, and Schools of Happiness — each designed to cater to diverse student needs and promote inclusive, innovative learning models.

“These initiatives reflect our government’s commitment to ushering in an educational revolution in Punjab,” said an official from the state education department. “Extending the admission deadline is just one of several steps being taken to ensure that every child gets access to quality education without unnecessary hurdles.”

The Schools of Eminence focus on academic excellence and competitive readiness, while the Schools of Brilliance aim to tap into students’ creative and analytical abilities. Meanwhile, the Schools of Happiness seek to enhance emotional intelligence and mental well-being, integrating mindfulness and values-based learning into daily curriculum.

The PSEB has urged school administrators to widely communicate the new admission date so that eligible students can benefit from the extension. Further instructions regarding documentation and fee submission have been sent to district education offices for prompt implementation.

Officials added that the extended deadline also gives schools more time to evaluate enrolment patterns and plan resource allocation effectively for the new session.
