JAIPUR, Aug. 17 — A 35-year-old labourer was killed after being run over by an SUV during a violent road rage incident in Jaipur’s Murlipura area on Saturday evening, police said.

The victim, identified as Chandrashekhar, originally from Uttar Pradesh and residing in Jaipur, died after being caught amid a brawl that broke out following a collision between a Scorpio SUV and a car. “The SUV hit a car, and soon after, four to five men got out carrying sticks and began smashing the vehicle’s windows before attacking the driver,” Additional DCP (West) Alok Singhal said.

As the altercation intensified, locals gathered at the scene. Chandrashekhar, who was standing nearby, fell to the ground during the commotion. “In an attempt to escape the crowd, the men inside the SUV drove off recklessly and ran over him,” Singhal noted.

Chandrashekhar was rushed to Kanwatia Hospital but was declared brought dead by doctors. His death sparked outrage among residents, who staged a protest before police intervened and brought the situation under control.

Authorities said efforts are under way to identify and arrest the accused. “We are scanning CCTV footage and working to trace the SUV and its occupants,” a police officer mentioned.
