ABOHAR, Sept 7: — A 45-year-old tractor driver was killed after his vehicle collided with a heavy transport truck near Dangar Khera village on the Abohar-Fazilka road, police said Sunday.
The victim, identified as Raghubir Singh of Jandwala Hanwanta village in Abohar, was rushed to the Civil Hospital by the Sadak Suraksha Force (SSF) soon after the accident. Doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Witnesses told police that a heavy vehicle coming from Fazilka rammed into the tractor before speeding away. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene, officers said.
“The heavy vehicle involved in the collision has been taken into possession. An investigation is underway to trace the driver and determine the cause of the accident,” a Sadar police official said.
Police have registered a case and are questioning locals as part of the probe.
