Mohali, September 17 – Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh on Tuesday personally inspected a collapsed stretch of road at Sector 79-68 chowk near CP Mall before confronting civic officials over the city’s failing infrastructure.
“This road was built 10 to 12 years ago, but today it has completely collapsed in a shocking manner. This is a waste of people’s money and a major compromise on quality,” Singh said after examining the site.
He then led the Municipal Corporation Commissioner and other senior officials to the scene, noting the growing disconnect between city authorities and residents.

The legislator accused the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) of neglect despite collecting the highest revenue from the city.
“GMADA earns the most money from Mohali, but officials neither step out of their rooms nor inspect the problems people are facing,” he said.
Issuing a stern warning, Singh said accountability must be enforced if negligence leads to accidents.
“If there is any mishap or loss of life, the direct responsibility will lie with the JE, SDO, XEN and GMADA officials. Strict action should be taken and cases registered in such instances,” he noted.

The MLA further stated that he would request a vigilance probe and raise the matter in the Vidhan Sabha.
“People are spending lakhs of crores of rupees, yet neither the roads are in proper condition nor is there a solution for sewage management. Residents are suffering daily while officials remain confined to files,” he said.
Describing five of Mohali’s busiest intersections as “death intersections,” Singh warned that public patience was running thin.
“The government must issue strict directions to ensure residents receive relief and public money is not wasted,” he added.
