SUV Crash Kills Six Haryana Residents

MUZAFFARNAGAR, 1 Oct — Six people from Haryana were killed and another critically injured when an SUV crashed into a stationary truck near a roadside eatery on the Panipat–Khatima highway on Wednesday, police said.

Circle Officer Rupali Rao told PTI that the victims were en route to Haridwar to perform the last rites of a relative when the accident occurred. “They were travelling from Faridpur in Haryana to Haridwar to immerse the ashes of a loved one,” she said.

The deceased have been identified as Mohini, 44; Anju, 30; Vimmi, 35; Rajender, 50; Shiva, 30, the SUV driver; and Piyush, 30. All were residents of Faridpur.

The lone injured person has been admitted to a nearby hospital and is receiving treatment. Police said a detailed investigation into the cause of the collision is underway.
