DODA/Chandigarh, 08 October 2024: Aam Aadmi Party candidate Mehraj Malik has won the Doda assembly seat, defeating BJP candidate Gajai Singh Rana by more than four thousand votes.

For the Doda seat, Congress nominated Sheikh Riaz Ahmed, while the National Conference put forward Khalib Najeeb Suharwardi. The competition between the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party was particularly intense for this seat.

Malik has been associated with the Aam Aadmi Party for a long time and is regarded as a popular leader in the Chenab valley’s Doda region.

Over the past few years, he has built a strong support base in the area.

The 36-year-old Malik won the District Development Council (DDC) elections in 2021, becoming an elected representative of AAP in Jammu and Kashmir.
