Chandigarh, November 29: Former Punjab minister and MLA Pargat Singh on Saturday questioned any possibility of a BJP–Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) alliance for the 2027 Assembly elections, saying the two parties “stand on opposite ideologies.”

“BJP is attacking Punjab every day,” Singh said.

“Every day it talks about taking Chandigarh from Punjab. First, it took control of the BBMB. Then the centre tried to dissolve the Panjab University Senate and even tried to muzzle the protests in the university. And that It has always been against the farmers.”

He said these actions leave “no space” for the regional party to consider a tie-up.

“How can the Akali Dal form an alliance with the BJP in such a situation?” he asked.

He also mentioned that five bills allegedly against Punjab will be passed in Parliament in the coming days.

“Under Manmohan Singh, the land that was granted to farmers will be reclaimed by the centre as per the new National highway bill,” he said further.
