New Delhi, December 6 — The Civil Aviation Ministry on Saturday directed IndiGo to complete refunds for all cancelled flights by 8 pm on Sunday, amid disruptions affecting thousands of passengers. The ministry also instructed the airline to deliver baggage separated from travellers within 48 hours.
“Airlines have also been instructed not to levy any rescheduling charges for passengers whose travel plans were affected by cancellations,” the ministry said in a statement. IndiGo has been asked to set up dedicated passenger support and refund facilitation cells, which will proactively contact affected travellers and ensure refunds and alternative travel arrangements are processed without repeated follow-ups.
The statement added that the automatic refund system will remain active until operations stabilise completely. More than 1,000 IndiGo flights have been cancelled over the past five days, with over 400 flights cancelled on Saturday alone.
