Kurukshetra, Dec 7: A man returning from a religious visit to Rajasthan died and six members of his family were injured after their Swift Dzire was hit by another vehicle and overturned on NH-152 near Pehowa in Kurukshetra on December 7, police said.
The victim, Ram Singh, 46, of Bakarpur in Mohali, was travelling back from Gogamedi Dham with his daughter and relatives when the car was struck by a vehicle coming from Kaithal. Police said his body has been sent for postmortem.
According to the injured, the group had left for Rajasthan on December 5 in a Swift Dzire (CH01 BF-0524) driven by Singh’s friend, Harmeet Singh. They included relatives from Zirakpur, Roshanpur in Ambala district, and Mani Majra.
Varinder Kaur, Singh’s 21-year-old daughter, told police they were on their way home after fulfilling a vow at the shrine when the crash happened. “As we crossed the road near Dhanirampura, a car came fast from the Kaithal side and hit us. Our car overturned and fell into the fields,” she said.
The impact left two children among the injured. Police said the cause of the collision is being examined and statements are being recorded.
