Shimla, Dec 9: Professor Mamta Mokta has been appointed as a Member of the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission for a term of six years or until she turns 62, whichever comes first.
The appointment places her at the state’s top recruitment body, while she continues to serve as Dean of Student Welfare at Himachal Pradesh University, where she also heads the Department of Public Administration.
With 33 years of teaching experience, including 16 years as a professor at the university, she has worked extensively in public policy, governance reforms, good governance frameworks and development administration. Her academic work spans seven authored books and several completed research projects.
Officials said her background in effective public service delivery and innovative governance practices is expected to add “strong institutional depth” to the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission.
Her administrative experience at the university, colleagues said, will support the commission’s work as it pushes for transparent and time-bound recruitment processes.
