CHANDIGARH, Dec 19 — Dense fog continues to sweep Punjab and Haryana on Friday, lowering visibility and deepening the winter chill, officials said. Hoshiarpur in Punjab recorded the lowest temperature in the region at 4.8°C, according to the local meteorological department.
Other parts of Punjab also felt the cold: Pathankot hit 8.7°C, Bathinda 5.2°C, Faridkot 5.8°C, and Gurdaspur 6°C. Amritsar registered 9.3°C, about 5 degrees above normal, while Ludhiana and Patiala recorded 10.6°C and 9.6°C, respectively.
Chandigarh, the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, experienced a minimum of 7.9°C. “Fog significantly reduced visibility in several areas, and the chill is expected to continue over the weekend,” a meteorological official said.
