Yamunanagar, Jan 15: A combined task force from the Haryana State Pollution Control Board and the Yamunanagar-Jagadhri Municipal Corporation (MCYJ) intensified its crackdown on illegal materials Wednesday, recovering 32 kilograms of prohibited single-use plastic. The operation targeted multiple commercial establishments across Yamunanagar and Jagadhri as part of a state-wide environmental enforcement drive.

The joint team issued spot fines totaling Rs 41,000 to four shopkeepers found stocking the contraband. This action follows a similar sweep on Tuesday where carry bags were confiscated from 10 different shops, resulting in immediate challans for all violators.

“The team members warned the shopkeepers that if they were found using banned polythene and single-use plastic items again, they would be issued challans and their goods would also be confiscated,” an official spokesperson stated after the raids.

Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Parsad has established specialized units to monitor compliance within the twin cities. These teams, led by Chief Sanitary Inspectors Harjeet Singh and Vinod Beniwal, are tasked with conducting surprise inspections to ensure the complete elimination of plastic waste from local markets.
