Chandigarh, Jan 17: Chandigarh schools are set to resume classes this Monday, Jan. 19, under a revised schedule designed to accommodate the prevailing winter weather conditions. The Department of School Education issued the updated timings to ensure student safety while maintaining academic continuity across all government, government-aided, and private institutions in the Union Territory.

Under the fresh directives, single-shift campuses will open their gates at 9 a.m. and conclude the day at 2:30 p.m. Establishments running on a double-shift system will follow a staggered routine, with the morning session beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at 1:45 p.m. The second shift is scheduled to start at 1:15 p.m. and run until 4:30 p.m.

“The adjustments are necessary to manage the cold wave while getting students back into the classroom,” a department official noted during the announcement.

Education officials mentioned that the decision follows a period of closure and aims to provide a standardized routine for the remainder of the winter season. The administration has advised school heads to ensure all staff and students are informed of the shift in timings before Monday morning.
