Chandigarh/Panchkula, Jan 18: The Command Hospital at Chandimandir has been conferred with the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Unit Certificate of Appreciation, marking a significant milestone for military healthcare in the region. This prestigious recognition follows the facility’s impressive performance in the Raksha Mantri Trophy Evaluation for 2024–25, where it claimed the second position among all Armed Forces hospitals.

The award was officially presented during the Army Day Investiture Ceremony in Jaipur on January 14. An official statement released on Sunday noted that the accolade serves as a testament to the hospital’s professionalism and unwavering dedication to providing high-quality medical services to service members and their families.

“This award reflects the collective dedication of our medical staff in maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence,” an official statement mentioned regarding the achievement.

Under the guidance of Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Command, the Panchkula-based hospital has undergone a massive transformation. The facility recently achieved a breakthrough by operationalizing its bone marrow transplant program and establishing a specialized Haematology Ward. These additions have significantly boosted the hospital’s capacity to handle complex medical cases within the Western Command’s jurisdiction.

The hospital’s reputation has grown beyond military circles, as it was named the best emerging National Organ Transplant and Retrieval Centre by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in August 2024. This was followed by its formal accreditation as a kidney transplant center, further solidifying its role as a premier medical institution in North India.

Infrastructure upgrades have played a vital role in this success. The hospital now features a modern modular Operation Theatre and a sophisticated ICU complex. Additionally, a new 20-bedded Oncology Day Care Centre has been established to streamline chemotherapy services, ensuring that patients receive specialized care in a comfortable environment.
