Bengaluru, Jan 30: The founder and chairman of the Bengaluru-based Confident Group, C J Roy, was found dead Friday at his office located near Richmond Circle. Police officials stated that the prominent real estate developer succumbed to gunshot wounds from his own licensed firearm, leading investigators to suspect the death was a suicide.

Staff members at the office reportedly rushed to the chairman’s private room after hearing the sound of a gunshot. Upon entry, they discovered Roy lying in a pool of blood. He was transported to a nearby hospital where medical professionals declared him deceased on arrival.

“We are currently investigating the circumstances of the incident, and a final conclusion will be drawn following the completion of the post-mortem examination,” a police spokesperson noted during a briefing on the situation.

The discovery follows reports that federal authorities had been monitoring the businessman’s financial dealings. Sources within the department mentioned that the Income Tax Department had conducted searches at Roy’s premises earlier on Friday morning.
