Jalandhar, Jan 31: Punjab Police and central security agencies have launched a massive investigation after multiple Jalandhar schools received emails threatening Dera Sachkhand Ballan. The threats arrived just days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the religious site on Sunday to mark Guru Ravidas Jayanti. While the emails were sent to educational institutions, the content specifically focused on the Prime Minister’s upcoming itinerary at the Dera.

Authorities have mobilized a heavy security blanket across the city, deploying approximately 1,500 police personnel to maintain order. Special Protection Group teams have been stationed at the site since Tuesday to secure the perimeter. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav also conducted a personal review of the arrangements at Dera Ballan recently to ensure all protocols are in place.

The digital threats reportedly made references to international events and specific political grievances. One of the communications stated, “Full respect for Guru Ravidas ji, but Modi is the enemy. We have no issues with Sant Niranjan Dass, but with Modi.” The sender further mentioned seeking revenge for the 2023 death of Hardeep Nijjar in Canada.

Local officials noted that the timing of the emails coincided with a period when students were already away from campus. All Jalandhar schools remained closed Saturday for the Guru Ravidas shobha yatra, and police confirmed there is no immediate danger to the student population. Investigators are now working to trace the origin of the messages and determine their credibility while maintaining a strict vigil at the religious site and surrounding areas.
