Jalandhar, Feb 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday described the newly finalized trade agreement between India and the European Union as a landmark achievement that will catalyze the national economy. Speaking in Jalandhar, the Prime Minister noted that the deal is set to create expansive opportunities for regional industries and the local workforce.

The Prime Minister characterized the agreement as a significant move toward strengthening international commerce, which will involve enhanced trade relations with 27 European nations.

“Another historic step has been taken to infuse new energy into the nation’s economy. An agreement has been reached on a trade deal between India and the European Union, which the world is calling the ‘Mother of all deals’,” Prime Minister Modi said.

He further observed that the deal would have a direct positive impact on the state’s skilled youth and its established manufacturing hubs. The agreement is expected to provide a substantial platform for local talent to engage with global markets.

“Punjab is known for its skilled workforce, and this trade deal will bring immense benefits to our brothers and sisters here,” the Prime Minister stated.

The textile sector, which forms a vital part of the state’s industrial fabric, is anticipated to be a major beneficiary of this international partnership. The Prime Minister pointed out that major industrial centers are now positioned to expand their footprint across Europe.

“Millions of people are connected to the textile sector here, and now Punjab’s textile industry will get access to new and larger global markets,” he added, referring to the deep links between cities like Jalandhar, Ludhiana, and Amritsar and the garment trade.
