Faridkot, Feb 2: Two Faridkot men have approached the police after being targeted by extortionists claiming to represent the Rohit Godara gang. These incidents involve demands for cash delivered through foreign phone lines, with the suspects vowing to harm the families of the victims.
Investigators are focusing on the similarities between the two reports, specifically the shared claim of gang membership. In one case, a driver working for the local Municipal Council was threatened by a suspect who police have identified as a Muktsar district resident.
A second complaint came from a resident of Green Avenue who described receiving a call that mirrored the first incident. The Faridkot police noted that both matters are being treated with urgency under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
“The threats, which allegedly originated from international phone numbers, involved demands for money,” an official directly said during the preliminary briefing. The police are examining possible links between the two cases to determine if a single cell is operating within the region or if the callers are using the gang’s name to instill fear.
