MANDI GOBINDGARH, Feb 5: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) bolstered its ranks in the Amloh constituency on Thursday as veteran Taksali Akali leaders officially joined the ruling party. Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema presided over the induction of Sukhwinder Singh Bhambri, his wife and former councillor Kamaljit Kaur Bhambri, and Rakesh Sofat into the party fold during an event held in Mandi Gobindgarh.

While welcoming the new members, Cheema noted that the continuous influx of opposition leaders into AAP, even four years after the previous mandate, reflects the success of the current administration. He stated that the state’s voters have observed the impact of people-friendly initiatives and are prepared to support the party again.

“AAP will form the government with a big victory margin in the 2027 Assembly elections,” the Minister said. He added that the intelligent electorate of Punjab is satisfied with the progress made over the last few years and has decided to re-elect the incumbent government based on its performance.

The Finance Minister specifically mentioned the state’s health insurance scheme, which provides Rs 10 lakh in coverage per family, as a significant benefit for the common man. He also discussed the “War Against Drugs,” noting that the campaign has led to the arrest of numerous peddlers while providing treatment to those struggling with addiction. Furthermore, he said the government’s zero-tolerance policy against gangsters has notably improved the law and order situation across the state.

Sukhwinder Singh Bhambri, addressing those present, clarified that his transition to the Aam Aadmi Party was not motivated by personal gain. He expressed a desire to work for the welfare of the people under the new leadership.

“I have joined the AAP without any conditions and without any ambition for a position. I will dedicate my experience to public service and will unite voters and supporters to further strengthen the party in Amloh constituency,” Bhambri said.
