Mohali, Feb 5: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has placed the manager of Gurdwara Sri Amb Sahib under immediate suspension following allegations of an illegal land sale in SAS Nagar. SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami confirmed the disciplinary move against the official, identified as Rajinder Singh, and directed that legal proceedings be initiated.

The controversy involves a land parcel measuring over one bigha in Saini Majra village, situated within the IT City area of Sector 101. While the property was reportedly sold for Rs 1.32 crore in December, internal estimates suggest an open auction could have generated between Rs 15 crore and Rs 20 crore.

“Rajinder Singh, who has brought disrepute to the Sikh institution, has been suspended,” Dhami said during his visit to the area. The president noted that the investigation remains open to identifying further complicity, adding that “if the involvement of any other individual is found, action would be initiated against him too.”

The matter came to light after local residents and SGPC member Paramjit Kaur Landran flagged the transaction. A departmental inquiry is currently being conducted by a five-member committee to probe the administrative lapses that allowed the registration to proceed at the sub-registrar office.
