Amritsar, Feb 7: The Akal Takht has issued a formal summons to Gurjant Singh of Barnala following allegations of disrespectful comments made against Guru Nanak Dev during a religious program. The incident reportedly took place during a Gurmat event held in the presence of the Guru Granth Sahib.

Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj confirmed that Singh must submit a written clarification regarding his statements and present himself in person at the Akal Takht Secretariat on February 9. The summons follows a review of the conduct reported during the religious gathering.

“Such conduct is unacceptable and cannot be tolerated under any circumstances by the Akal Takht or the Khalsa Panth,” the Jathedar said. He noted that no individual possesses the authority to speak against the dignity of the Sikh Gurus or attempt to diminish the respect afforded to them.

The religious authority mentioned that the next steps would be determined after reviewing the submitted explanation. The Jathedar directly said that appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of the Akal Takht authorities and the nature of the clarification provided by the accused.
