Mohali, Feb 11: Ten private schools in Mohali sent students home early on Wednesday after receiving threatening emails regarding potential explosives on their campuses. The threat prompted an immediate large-scale response from the district administration, with bomb disposal units dispatched to several prominent institutions to conduct thorough sweeps of the buildings.

“Some emails mention February 11, while others mention February 13 as the possible date of concern,” Dr. Ginni Duggal, Mohali District Education Officer, said. She confirmed that while government schools remain unaffected, she has advised private campus leaders to shut down and assist police teams in their ongoing search operations.

The schools targeted included YPS Mohali, Learning Paths School, and Manav Mangal School, alongside Shivalik Public School and Infinite Jesus School. Following the alerts, parents were seen rushing to collect their children as teachers coordinated a safe exit for all students. Security has been tightened across the district to prevent any untoward incidents.

Police investigators are currently working to identify the source of the emails, which they believe may be intended to cause public disruption. While no explosives have been found, the district administration continues to monitor the situation closely. Teams from the Education Department have been sent to the affected sites to ensure all safety protocols are strictly followed by the school managements.
