Chandigarh, Feb 13: The State Financial Secretary of the BJP’s SC Wing, Amarjeet Singh Kokri Kalan, officially resigned from his post to join the Aam Aadmi Party on Friday. The move was formalized in the presence of Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, who mentioned the shift as a rejection of “anti-people” policies.

Amarjeet Singh, an influential figure in the Nihal Singh Wala area, joined the party along with a significant group of supporters, including village heads and local representatives. Cheema noted that the inclusion of such dedicated public servants strengthens the party’s commitment to the marginalized sections of society, specifically the Dalit and labor communities.

“Amarjeet Singh decided to leave his former party after becoming disillusioned with its politics,” Cheema mentioned while addressing the gathering.

The Minister noted that Singh was inspired by the tangible relief provided to Punjab’s residents through various social security measures. During the event, it was noted that the state government’s focus on health, education, and electricity has created a new standard for governance that experienced leaders from other parties are now finding attractive.

“Today, Punjab is moving decisively towards a politics based on work and transparency,” the Minister noted.

The AAP leadership mentioned that all those joining the party would be given due respect and significant responsibilities to help carry forward the state’s development agenda. The induction ceremony concluded with a call for continued dedication toward the welfare of the youth and farmers of Punjab.
