Moga, Feb 15: The investigation into the recent violence against migrant laborers in Moga saw progress today as police rounded up two men, including a suspected mastermind. The detainees are being questioned regarding the ambush where motorcycle-borne assailants targeted Bihar natives working at a rice sheller. The police affirmed that the victims were shot while walking back to their accommodation during the busy paddy processing period.
Forensic teams and investigators have spent the last four days scanning CCTV footage and examining the crime scene to trace the motorcycle used in the crime. While the actual shooters remain at large, the police maintained that their identities are known and multiple teams are conducting raids to apprehend them. The case gained urgency after an online video showed armed men making derogatory remarks and claiming they carried out the attack.
Medical officials noted that both injured laborers, Ashok Kumar and Subodh Majhi, are receiving treatment, with one being shifted to a specialized medical college for his bullet wounds. The Indian mission in regional law enforcement declared that they would take strict action against those attempting to disrupt communal harmony. Regarding the identity of the detainees, officials mentioned that a village sarpanch is among those being questioned but added that further details would be withheld to ensure the success of the manhunt.
