Chandigarh/Jalandhar, Feb 20: The Punjab Government has officially taken physical possession of 10.50 acres of land along the Kartarpur Road in Jalandhar to establish the Sri Guru Ravidass Bani Adhyayan Centre. Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema announced the development on Thursday, stating that the acquisition at Naugajja and Faridpur villages marks a decisive step in fulfilling a long-standing demand of the Sangat.
Minister Cheema, who oversaw the possession process alongside local officials and representatives from Dera Sachkhand Ballan, affirmed that the site will house a state-of-the-art institution. He maintained that the facility is designed to serve as a global hub for scholars dedicated to the teachings of Guru Ravidass Ji.
To ensure the construction proceeds without technical hurdles, the state administration has sanctioned ₹55 lakh for the relocation of high-tension electricity lines from the acquired property. Cheema declared that with the sale deeds registered and possession secured, the project has moved into an active execution phase.
“The Punjab Government has secured physical possession of this land to create a world-class institution,” Cheema stated during the proceedings. He added that experts are currently finalizing the design and layout in coordination with Dera Sachkhand Ballan, and tenders for construction will be floated shortly.
The Finance Minister also noted that the state is preparing to observe the 650th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji Maharaj on a grand scale. He asserted that a year-long series of programs will be organized across Punjab to promote the spiritual and social legacy of the Guru. Following the announcement, the ministerial delegation visited Dera Sachkhand Ballan to seek blessings from Sant Niranjan Dass Ji.
