New Delhi, Feb 20: Ten members of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) were taken into custody after staging a demonstration inside an exhibition hall at Bharat Mandapam during the AI Impact Summit. The protesters, who were subsequently escorted to the Tilak Marg police station, raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and displayed T-shirts alleging he is “compromised.”

The protest caused a brief disruption to the international summit, which hosted global industry leaders and policymakers. Law enforcement officials affirmed that no individuals would be permitted to violate the law or interfere with the proceedings of the high-level event.

The BJP reacted sharply to the incident, with party leaders asserting that the protest was a calculated attempt to damage India’s international reputation. BJP spokesperson C R Kesavan declared that the conduct of the IYC workers was indefensible and stated that it reflects a broader pattern aimed at undermining the country’s standing.

“Such actions will not be forgotten by the public, particularly the youth,” Kesavan asserted during a press interaction. He maintained that the demonstration was a sign of political desperation rather than legitimate dissent.

BJP leader Amit Malviya further noted in a social media post that the incident was a “national shame.” He stated that while India was showcasing its leadership in artificial intelligence, the Congress party chose to prioritize disruption over national dignity. Malviya declared that actions intended to embarrass the country on a global stage are unacceptable, regardless of political differences.
