Punjab Education Minister Explores AI Integration for Schools

Harjot Singh Bains meets global tech leaders at India AI Impact Expo to discuss classroom innovation

Chandigarh, February 20, 2026 — Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains today led a high-level delegation to the India AI Impact Expo at Bharat Mandapam, seeking to integrate artificial intelligence into the state’s public education system. The visit included strategic consultations with representatives from global technology leaders, including Google, NVIDIA, and OpenAI, to identify scalable digital solutions for Punjab’s schools.

The Education Minister stated that the initiative aims to equip the state’s students with modern tools and future-proof the existing educational framework. Accompanied by senior education officials, Bains held discussions on personalizing the learning experience and using technology to improve foundational literacy and numeracy across the state.

“Our interactions with global leaders like NVIDIA, Google, and OpenAI have given us a clear roadmap,” Bains declared. He asserted that the government is specifically focused on Personalised Adaptive Learning and strengthening foundational education through AI. He further maintained that these technologies would serve as a force multiplier for teachers and provide personalized guidance for every student.

The delegation also engaged with the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) and the Ministry of Education. These meetings focused on national AI strategies and digital infrastructure models that could be adapted for local classrooms. Minister Bains noted that the integration of AI-assisted assessments and multilingual tools would be a priority for the department.

During his visit, Bains also toured the Punjab Startup Pavilion, where he met with local AI entrepreneurs supported by state programs. He affirmed that Punjab is rapidly becoming a hub for educational technology innovation. The minister declared that the government is committed to building a model where technology enhances the reach and effectiveness of the teaching staff.
