Kapurthala police arrest two in separate narcotics operations

Authorities recover heroin and intoxicant tablets during weekend patrols

KAPURTHALA, Feb 21— Local law enforcement officials arrested two individuals on Saturday following the recovery of heroin and prohibited tablets in separate anti-drug operations across the district. The arrests were made as part of ongoing efforts to curb the distribution of narcotics in the region.

In the first instance, a police party stationed near Gurdwara Sant Sar in Subhanpur observed a young man acting in a suspicious manner. Officers stated that the individual appeared nervous upon spotting the patrol and attempted to discard a packet before moving away from the scene.

The police team immediately apprehended the suspect, who was later identified as Praveen Singh, a resident of Boot village. Upon a search of the discarded belongings, officials recovered 6 grams of heroin. The suspect was taken into custody following the discovery.

A second operation conducted by a team led by ASI Darshan Singh resulted in another arrest near Moto Tyre and Bathware. Authorities intercepted Sarabjit, also known as Sabi, from Jamalpur village in Phagwara.

Police officials declared that the suspect was found to be in possession of 30 intoxicant tablets. A formal case has been registered against the individual, and investigation is under way to determine the origin of the contraband.
