KAPURTHALA, Feb 21 — The district police arrested three individuals in two separate operations on Saturday, seizing commercial quantities of heroin and pharmaceutical drugs. The crackdowns resulted in the recovery of 203 grams of heroin along with 190 intoxicant tablets.
In the first major haul, a police team under the supervision of ASI Sarwan Singh established a checkpoint near Thammuwal village. During the operation, officers intercepted a Swift Dzire carrying two men, identified as Baljit Singh from Beetla village and Lovepreet Singh from Jodha Bhaini village in Fazilka.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 102 grams of heroin in Baljit’s possession and another 101 grams with Lovepreet. Officers stated that the contraband and the car were immediately taken into custody. Both suspects were arrested at the scene and face charges under the NDPS Act.
The second operation, conducted by the Bhulath Police, led to the arrest of Gaurav Gill, also known as Guri. Authorities affirmed that the suspect attempted to evade the police at Sadda Chak Adda by discarding a black polythene bag on the roadside. Upon inspecting the packet, officials found 190 loose intoxicant tablets, leading to his apprehension.
