Chandigarh, Feb 27: Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Friday described the court’s acquittal of Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia as a landmark moment for Indian democracy. Speaking in Chandigarh, the senior Aam Aadmi Party leader maintained that the legal outcome serves as a definitive vindication of the party’s integrity against what he termed politically motivated allegations.

The Minister asserted that despite persistent claims regarding a financial scam, investigating agencies failed to recover any evidence to support the charges. He stated that the case was a calculated attempt to hinder the political progress of the party leadership. Bains declared that the use of central agencies in this manner has been unsuccessful, as the court found no merit in the long-standing accusations.

Reflecting on the period of incarceration faced by the leaders, Bains noted that the opposition’s approach lacked basic consideration for personal health and family circumstances. He affirmed that Manish Sisodia and Arvind Kejriwal remained committed to their principles despite the challenges. The Minister maintained that the real focus of their leadership—transforming public education and healthcare—was the actual reason they were targeted by rival political forces.

Looking toward the future, the Education Minister declared that the verdict would resonate with the electorate. He asserted that in the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, the party is set to surpass its previous performance from 2022. Bains maintained that the public would use their voting power to respond to the tactics used against the party, viewing the court’s decision as a positive sign for the state’s political landscape.
