Hyderabad/Chandigarh, March 1: The Punjab Government has been honored with the Digital Excellence Award at the Technology Sabha 2026 in Hyderabad, recognizing its efforts in implementing citizen-centric digital reforms. Director of Governance Reforms and Information Technology, Vishesh Sarangal, accepted the accolade on behalf of the state during the event organized by the Indian Express Group.

Minister for Governance Reforms Aman Arora stated that the recognition reflects the state’s commitment to building a transparent and accountable administrative framework. He maintained that the government’s vision focuses on eliminating middleman culture and ensuring that public services reach the doorsteps of citizens with dignity and ease.

A central feature of this digital transformation is the “Bhagwant Mann Sarkar Tuhade Dwaar” initiative. The Minister affirmed that the flagship scheme allows residents to access more than 430 government services from home by dialing the 1076 helpline. This system removes the necessity for physical visits to government offices, streamlining the application process for essential documents.

The state has also integrated grassroots leadership into the digital ecosystem, allowing Sarpanchs and Municipal Councillors to verify applications online. Statistics provided by the department show that over 12.5 lakh applications have been processed through this integrated system, resulting in a pendency rate of only 0.33%.

Looking toward future developments, Director Vishesh Sarangal declared that the department intends to incorporate Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to further simplify service delivery. He asserted that the ultimate goal is to establish a completely paperless ecosystem for all major life-cycle services, ensuring every government facility is available at the click of a button.
