Ropar, March 16: Aam Aadmi Party leaders gathered across Punjab on Sunday to commemorate the birth anniversary of the iconic Bahujan leader, Kanshi Ram. During an event in Ropar, Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema declared that the state government remains dedicated to realizing the vision of social justice and equality championed by both Kanshi Ram and Babasaheb Ambedkar.

Minister Cheema, who worked closely with the late leader during his student days, asserted that Kanshi Ram played a pivotal role in awakening the Bahujan society. He maintained that the leader’s tireless efforts, which often involved traveling to remote villages by foot or bicycle, were instrumental in spreading Ambedkar’s ideology at the grassroots level.

The Finance Minister affirmed that the current administration, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is actively translating these ideals into governance. He noted that the state has introduced significant reforms, such as ensuring reservations within the office of the Advocate General at the Punjab and Haryana High Court. These steps, he stated, are designed to provide unprecedented opportunities for underprivileged professionals.

Education was also a focal point of the tribute. Cheema maintained that the overhaul of government schools has empowered students from ordinary backgrounds to succeed in national competitive exams like JEE and NEET. He declared that strengthening public education is essential for allowing children from common families to secure top positions in the country.

In Jalandhar, AAP leader Pawan Kumar Tinu also paid respects, describing the late leader as a fearless organizer of marginalized communities. Tinu stated that following the ideals of unity and political awareness is the most fitting tribute to Kanshi Ram’s legacy. The party leadership reaffirmed that welfare schemes, including free electricity and improved healthcare, are direct extensions of the mission to provide dignity to every citizen.
