Ghaziabad, March 17: A 36-year-old manager of Punjab & Sind Bank was killed on Monday afternoon after a security guard allegedly opened fire inside the bank’s Balram Nagar branch. Ghaziabad police identified the deceased as Abhishek Kumar, a resident of Bhopra originally from Patna, Bihar.

The primary suspect, an ex-serviceman identified as Ravinder Hooda, was reportedly disgruntled regarding matters related to his salary and leave. According to law enforcement officials, Hooda and an accomplice were apprehended by Monday evening following a brief period on the run.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Gyan Prakash Rai stated that the guard had been absent from his post earlier in the day before being summoned by Kumar. Upon arrival at approximately 1:00 p.m., Hooda requested the release of his service weapon from the bank’s storage.

“Thereafter, the guard and the branch manager exchanged words, and the guard soon fired at him,” ACP Rai asserted. He maintained that a single gunshot to the chest proved fatal for the manager, after which the suspect walked out of the branch with the weapon.
