Thirteen passengers and a driver perish after collision with tipper lorry

Markapuram, March 26: Fourteen individuals lost their lives and 23 others sustained injuries on Thursday when a private travel bus collided with a gravel-loaded tipper lorry and ignited in the Markapuram district of Andhra Pradesh. The vehicle was transporting approximately 35 passengers from Jagityal in Telangana toward Kaligiri in Nellore district when the fatal impact occurred.

Local law enforcement confirmed that the collision caused the bus to burst into flames, leaving several passengers trapped within the burning wreckage. Markapuram Superintendent of Police V Harshavardhan Raju stated that 14 people died in the accident and 23 injured persons have been shifted to the hospital, including the driver. He affirmed that efforts are on to gather complete details of the incident.

The driver of the tipper lorry also sustained injuries during the crash and remains under medical care. Following the report, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed profound shock and grief regarding the loss of life. The Chief Minister spoke to officials to ensure that the injured were receiving adequate medical assistance. He also directed a comprehensive inquiry into the cause of the accident and requested a formal report.
