Mohali, April 9: The Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has announced a series of scheduled power cuts across Sunny Enclave and its surrounding localities in Mohali, starting Friday. The disruptions, which are expected to last eight hours daily, are necessary for the critical upgradation of the 66 kV Sunny transmission line to strengthen the local power grid.

According to the official schedule, the power supply will be suspended from 9 am to 5 pm on April 10, 11, 13, 15, and 17. The primary areas impacted by these maintenance works include Sectors 123, 124, and 125, along with both Old and New Sunny Enclave. Additionally, several villages and colonies, including Hussainpur, Jhampur, Jandpur, Thaska, and Desumajra, will also face temporary outages during the specified hours.

The power utility stated that these upgrades are essential to prevent long-term technical failures and to improve the overall reliability of the infrastructure. This latest round of maintenance follows similar augmentation work recently completed on the 66 kV Majra–Mullanpur line, which affected residents in Nayagaon and Omaxe societies through early April.

“We urge residents to cooperate with the department during this period as the strengthening of the 66 kV line is a vital requirement for the region,” a senior PSPCL official maintained. The department affirmed that every effort is being made to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe to minimize public inconvenience.
