New Delhi, 20 October, 2024: A blast was reported near the CRPF School in Sector 14, Rohini, early Sunday morning, causing damage to nearby structures, though no casualties have been reported, police officials confirmed. The incident occurred around 7:47 AM when a PCR call alerted authorities to a loud explosion near the school.
Fire engines, bomb squads, and a police forensic team were dispatched to the scene to investigate the source of the blast. “Upon reaching the location, we found a portion of the school’s wall damaged along with nearby property,” a police officer stated, adding, “A foul smell was noticed at the site.”
In addition to the school, a nearby shop and a car parked close by sustained damage, with shattered windows being reported. “The windows of a nearby shop and a car parked close to the scene were affected due to the blast,” the officer added.
Authorities quickly cordoned off the area to secure the scene, with specialized teams, including the Crime Unit and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), deployed to investigate the cause. “The bomb disposal squad is at the location, and we are looking into the possibility of various causes, including the use of firecrackers,” a senior officer said.
The fire brigade was also present, with officials collecting samples to determine the source of the explosion. Meanwhile, CCTV footage from the vicinity is being reviewed. “No injuries were reported, but we are thoroughly investigating all angles,” police noted.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the exact cause of the blast.
