Shambu, April 28: A blast on the Shambhu-Ambala railway line late Monday night triggered a major security response after an explosion damaged the tracks and left a human torso at the scene. The incident occurred at approximately 10:00 p.m., leading to an immediate suspension of rail traffic while forensic teams conducted a search of the area.
Patiala SSP Varun Sharma stated that the recovered remains are believed to belong to the individual responsible for the explosion. The deceased has been identified as Jagroop Singh, a resident of Tarn Taran district. Investigators maintained that although the blast was severe, the individual’s mobile phone remained intact, which allowed authorities to establish his identity.
The Railway Police have registered a formal case under Section 150 of the Railway Act along with Sections 3 and 4 of the Explosives Act against unknown persons. Forensic experts from Patiala arrived at the site shortly after midnight to collect samples for laboratory analysis. SSP Sharma affirmed that a search for potential accomplices is actively underway, noting that the mobile phone data may provide leads toward other suspects.
Technical teams worked through the night to repair the infrastructure, as the explosion had shattered stone slabs and broken a section of the iron rail. The Railway Department stated that the line was successfully restored for traffic at 7:55 a.m. Tuesday after the replacement of two iron channels.
