Chandigarh, 21 October, 2024: Late on Sunday, the Haryana Governor allocated portfolios to the newly formed council of ministers under Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. This announcement, detailed in a notification from the Cabinet Secretariat, comes three days after the new government was sworn in.

Chief Minister Saini retained crucial departments, including home and finance, overseeing a total of 12 portfolios. His responsibilities also encompass planning, excise and taxation, town and country planning, urban estates, information, public relations, language and culture, criminal investigation, law and legislative affairs, as well as housing.

The health department, which Vij managed during the Khattar administration, has been transferred to Arti Singh Rao, who will also oversee medical education, research, and Ayush.

Saini, 54, was sworn in as the chief minister of Haryana during a grand ceremony in Panchkula on Thursday, attended by numerous NDA leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and thousands of supporters from across the state. Alongside him, 13 MLAs, including two women, also took their oaths.

Rao Narbir Singh has been given responsibility for industries and commerce, as well as environment, forests, and wildlife departments. Furthermore, Minister of State (Independent Charge) Rajesh Nagar will oversee food, civil supplies, and consumer affairs, while Minister of State Gaurav Gautam (Independent Charge) will manage youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, and sports departments.

The Governor allocated these portfolios upon the advice of Chief Minister Saini, as the BJP secured 48 out of 90 seats in the October 5 Haryana Assembly elections.
